Adsum Sport and Play brings more than 25 years of experience to the construction of synthetic pitches (often known as Astroturf), delivering high performance surfaces for schools, clubs, universities and community facilities. Our work is primarily focused within the counties surrounding our Buckinghamshire headquarters, supported by a national footprint that allows us to deliver consistently wherever Preparatory Schools are based.

The original AstroTurf product was a short-pile synthetic turf invented in 1965 by Monsanto. It has since become a synonym for all types of artificial and synthetic playing surfaces.

Pitches that are termed as 'Astroturf' can include Gen 2 systems for hockey and multi sport use, 3G systems for football and rugby, and versatile MUGA surfaces designed for varied activity. Construction typically involves engineered foundations, optional shock pad layers and a carefully specified synthetic turf system selected to match the sporting needs of the site. When delivered correctly, these surfaces provide consistent ball behaviour, secure footing and dependable year round performance.

We deliver each project through a Prime Contractor model, overseeing planning, governance and quality assurance while working with trusted local subcontractors for specialist installation. This ensures every synthetic pitch is constructed to a high standard, technically robust and ready for sustained, intensive use across a wide range of sports.
